1. Sweatcoin Continues
Is Sweatcoin shutting down?
No. Sweatcoin is a separate entity. It continues its normal operation and nothing changes in the Sweatcoin app. You keep earning Sweatcoins for your steps, and the Marketplace, Challenges, Offers and Premium work as usual.
The Sweat Foundation has announced that Sweat Wallet and the SWEAT token, as they exist today, will end on 30 December 2026. Sweat Wallet and SWEAT are run by The Sweat Foundation, a separate company. Sweatcoin is run by Sweatco Ltd.
What's the difference between Sweatcoin, Sweat Wallet and SWEAT?
- Sweatcoin - this app, run by Sweatco Ltd. It rewards your steps with Sweatcoins (SWC - in-app currency) you can spend in our Marketplace. It continues as normal.
- Sweat Wallet - a separate crypto app run by The Sweat Foundation. It ends in its current form on 30 December 2026.
- SWEAT - a crypto token issued by The Sweat Foundation. The token itself continues to exist on the NEAR blockchain after 30 December.
Will my Sweatcoins (SWC) be affected?
No. Your Sweatcoin balance, purchases and Premium subscription are not affected. Sweatcoins and SWEAT are different things.
2. What's Happening To Sweat Wallet And SWEAT
What has the Sweat Foundation announced?
On 1 October 2026 The Sweat Foundation announced that Sweat Wallet and the SWEAT token, as they exist today, will end on 30 December 2026. Until then the Sweat Wallet app keeps working and you keep earning SWEAT. Full details and step-by-step guides are on the Foundation's page: update.swe.at.
Can I still earn SWEAT until 30 December?
Yes. SWEAT minting for Sweatcoin users continues until 30 December 2026, as it does today.
What happens to SWEAT after 30 December?
The SWEAT token continues to exist on the NEAR blockchain (and on the other chains it is bridged to). You can keep holding it and sending it from any wallet that supports NEAR. What ends is the Sweat Wallet app and its services in their current form. The Foundation will publish what changes from January 2027 in the first week of December.
Why is this happening?
This was The Sweat Foundation's decision. Their reasons are set out in their announcement at update.swe.at.
Does this mean Sweatcoin is ending crypto rewards?
We're working on new ways to reward the part of our community that enjoys digital rewards, and we'll share more in October. Sweatcoins and the Marketplace are not affected.
3. Keeping Your SWEAT Safe
What should I do now to protect my SWEAT?
The Foundation recommends finishing these steps by 18 December 2026, while the Sweat Wallet app still works:
- Back up your private key (or seed phrase) and your NEAR account ID. Write them down and keep them somewhere safe and offline.
- Claim any SWEAT you've earned.
- Withdraw from Grow Jars if you want to.
- Move any balances on Ethereum, Base, BSC or Arbitrum to a wallet you control, or bridge them to your NEAR account.
Step-by-step guides are at update.swe.at
Can Sweatcoin recover my Sweat Wallet, private key or tokens?
No. Sweat Wallet is a non-custodial wallet run by The Sweat Foundation, so only you hold the keys. Neither Sweatcoin nor anyone else can recover them for you. That's why backing up your key now is so important.
Someone contacted me about "migrating" my SWEAT. Is it real?
No. Sweatcoin and The Sweat Foundation will never message you first, and will never ask for your private key, seed phrase or password. Nobody needs your key to "migrate", "upgrade" or "protect" your tokens.
The only official Sweat Foundation websites are swe.at, sweateconomy.com and whitepaper.swe.at. If someone asks for your key, it's a scam - don't reply and don't click their links.
Will deleting my Sweatcoin account affect my SWEAT?
Back up your Sweat Wallet private key before you delete your Sweatcoin account or ask us to reset your wallet link. Once the link is removed, you'll need your own key to reach your tokens.
4. Managing Your SWEAT After Sweat Wallet Closes
How can I manage my SWEAT after Sweat Wallet shuts down?
Every Sweat Wallet account is a NEAR account. Once you've backed up your private key or seed phrase, you can open the same account - with the same SWEAT - in any other wallet that supports NEAR. You don't need to send your tokens anywhere: you simply sign in to your existing account from a different app.
- In Sweat Wallet, back up your private key or seed phrase and note your NEAR account ID.
- Install another NEAR-compatible wallet (examples below).
- Choose Import or Recover account and enter your seed phrase or private key.
- Check that your account ID and SWEAT balance appear.
Do this before 18 December, while Sweat Wallet still works and before you remove any keys from your account.
Which wallets can I use?
Any non-custodial wallet that supports NEAR. Some widely used examples:
| Wallet | Where it works | How you import your account |
| Meteor Wallet | Browser extension, iOS, Android | Seed phrase or private key |
| MyNearWallet | Web browser | Seed phrase or private key (has a guide written for Sweat Wallet users) |
| HOT Wallet | iOS, Android, Chrome extension, web, Telegram | Self-custody; import steps to confirm before publishing |
| NEAR Mobile | iOS, Android | Seed phrase or private key |
| Ledger (hardware) | Hardware device + Ledger Live | For larger balances; set up a new key on the device, then add it to your account |
These are independent apps run by third parties. Sweatcoin doesn't operate, endorse or support them - please do your own research before choosing one.
Can I keep SWEAT on an exchange instead?
That's your choice. Keep in mind that on an exchange the platform holds your keys, and SWEAT may not be listed on every exchange. Sweatcoin can't give advice on buying, selling or holding SWEAT.
Should I sell or convert my SWEAT?
We can't give financial advice. Whether and where to convert SWEAT is each holder's own decision.
5. Grow Jars, Unclaimed SWEAT, Other Chains, Refunds
What happens to my Grow Jars?
Grow Jars keep working and earning until 30 December. The Foundation is removing the minimum term no later than 15 October 2026, so you can withdraw your SWEAT and earned yield at any time after that. Balances left in Grow Jars might not be recoverable after 30 December.
What happens to SWEAT I haven't claimed?
Please claim it before 30 December. Unclaimed SWEAT might not be recoverable after that date.
I hold tokens on Ethereum, Base, BSC or Arbitrum in Sweat Wallet. What should I do?
Move them to another wallet you control, or bridge them to your NEAR account, while the Sweat Wallet app is still running. The Foundation's guide explains how: update.swe.at.
I pay for a Sweat Wallet subscription. Can I get a refund?
If your paid period runs past 30 December 2026, you can ask for a refund of the unused part through Apple's or Google Play's refund process. If that doesn't work, contact The Sweat Foundation at support@swe.at.
Is my Sweatcoin Premium affected?
No. Sweatcoin Premium is a Sweatcoin subscription and continues as normal.
Who do I contact about Sweat Wallet problems?
Sweat Wallet is supported by The Sweat Foundation. Please contact them at support@swe.at or via update.swe.at. For anything about the Sweatcoin app, we're here to help as always.
6. "Give Me Something Else Instead Of SWEAT"
Until the replacement is decided, every reply says the same three things: we hear you, we're working on something for you, we'll share it in October. No promises of what, how much or when exactly.
Will Sweatcoin give me something instead of SWEAT?
We know SWEAT has been an important reward. We're working on new ways to reward our community with digital rewards, and we'll share more in October. In the meantime, you keep earning Sweatcoins for every step, and your SWEAT stays yours - see how to keep it safe in "Keeping your SWEAT safe".
